Learn about an exciting voluntary community project for landowners in the Patterson Creek and Raging River Basins.

PRKC is excited to share news of a community-based stewardship opportunity for our area funded through a generous Federal EPA grant.

Through September 2009-September 2011, Stewardship in Action! will provide technical and financial assistance to landowners in the Raging and Patterson Creek Basins – your neighborhoods!

Several organizations have come together to assist landowners in planning for and implementing all sorts of stewardship activities to meet your goals for your property. Landowner options include lower taxes, materials cost share, work crews and technical help to improve forests and farms, streams and wetlands and native landscaping amongst other things.

Upcoming Dates for Landowners:

  • January 31, 2010, 11am-1pm, Informational Meeting for Landowners, at Treehouse Point, 6922 Preston-Fall City Road SE.  The meeting will be followed by an optional Forest Stewardship walking tour on private property along the Raging River which will be led by Preston resident and Forester, Kristi McClellend.

  • February 20, 2010, 10am-noon,  Baxter Historical Barn and SiA Open House at 31929 SE 44th Street
    Fall City.
Presented by Partnership for Rural King County and the Fall City Historical Society for Valley property owners. Come learn some great Fall City history and see clean farm management practices in action. As a participant in the Stewardship in Action program, the Baxter Farm has been the catalyst for restoring and preserving and entire Patterson Creek neighborhood. Learn what neighbors are doing to save money on property taxes and ensure their community remains farm-friendly for generations. Explore options for implementing “clean farm” management tools and practice by leveraging the technical and financial help offered through the Federal EPA Stewardship in Action! Project.

Upcoming Dates for Volunteers:

  • Volunteer training will also take place in January 2010.  Please send mail to info@prkc.org to sign up.
